The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning has significantly transformed digital advertising, particularly within the Meta Ads ecosystem. These platforms increasingly rely on algorithmic decision-making and predictive analytics to optimize ad delivery and performance. However, this shift has introduced algorithmic uncertainty, characterized by limited transparency, dynamic system behavior, and reduced managerial control.
This study examines how marketing professionals strategically respond to such uncertainty in Meta Ads environments. Adopting a qualitative research design, the study utilizes secondary data from academic literature, industry reports, and empirical studies to identify key sources of uncertainty, including algorithmic opacity, privacy-driven data restrictions, and campaign performance volatility.
The findings reveal that marketers are increasingly shifting toward adaptive strategies such as creative-centric optimization, reliance on first-party data, campaign consolidation, and continuous experimentation. While AI-driven systems enhance targeting precision and operational efficiency, they simultaneously reduce predictability and transparency, necessitating a transition from deterministic planning to agile, data-driven decision-making approaches.
The study contributes to the digital marketing literature by conceptualizing algorithmic uncertainty as a critical strategic variable and proposes a framework for managing it effectively. It concludes that marketing success in AI-driven environments depends not on controlling algorithmic processes but on aligning strategic actions with algorithmic logic and adaptive learning mechanisms.
