A Critical Analysis on Industrial Automation System: The Pillar of Modernization |
![]() |
Author Name Debabrata Das and Dr. Sanjay Mathur Abstract This paper outlines the evolution of the current automation system, tracing its development from its early stages. Historically, automation relied on relays and contactor logic, where greater human involvement led to a higher likelihood of errors. However, the introduction of microprocessors heralded the adoption of advanced tools such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and DCS (Distributed Control Systems). These technologies have significantly reduced the need for human intervention, thereby enhancing accuracy, precision, and efficiency. A comparative analysis is provided to underscore the necessity of transitioning to these modern technologies.
