Upholding Economic Development Through Remittance: A Case Study in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has become one of the top 10^th remittance earning countries in the world. It is also the single largest source of foreign earnings in Bangladesh. However, until recently most of the literature on economic development via remittance has mainly been focused on the end-user (micro-economic) of remittance by the recipient households. Little has been observed in the macroeconomic aspects. Data had been collected form secondary sources and mostly reports published by the government agencies and international organizations. This paper had took a closer look for economic development of Bangladesh with the support of remittance. Excel spreadsheet had been used to analyze the data and presentation. Few recommendations had been given as a way to increase remittance to uphold the overall socioeconomic development of Bangladesh.
